Drawn by the shop that builds it

Most design firms hand over a drawing set and walk away. Most panel shops build whatever arrives, then send change orders when it doesn't fit. Both models push the cost of a design error into fabrication, where it is most expensive to fix.

We do both. The engineer drawing your panel works twenty feet from the bench that will wire it, so component availability, wire-bending room, thermal load, and inspectability get settled on the drawing — not discovered on the floor.

What does electrical control panel design cost?

Design is quoted as engineering hours against a defined scope, so cost tracks the complexity of the control system rather than a flat rate. A single-enclosure machine panel with relay logic and a small PLC is a modest, well-bounded package; a multi-section MCC with drives, safety circuits, and a full SCCR study is a larger one. Send your sequence of operation, load list, and any existing drawings and you'll get a fixed-fee proposal with the deliverables itemized.

Do you design panels you don't build?

Yes — design-only engagements are welcome. You receive the full drawing package, bill of materials, and SCCR documentation, and you're free to fabricate in-house or with another shop. Because we build panels every day, the package is written the way a builder needs to read it.

What software do you design in?

We design in EPLAN and AutoCAD Electrical, and deliver native project files plus DWG, DXF, and PDF sets. Bills of material export to Excel or CSV, and panel layouts can be issued as DXF for enclosure cutouts and nameplate engraving.

Can you redesign an existing panel to meet UL 508A?

Yes. We review the existing panel and drawings, identify what blocks compliance — unlisted components, undocumented SCCR, spacing and wire-bending room, overcurrent protection, and labeling — then issue a corrected drawing set with a component swap list. In most cases the same enclosure can be re-panelled rather than replaced.

How long does industrial control panel design take?

A straightforward machine panel typically moves from kickoff to released drawings in one to two weeks. Larger systems with drives, safety circuits, and a formal SCCR study usually run three to five weeks, including a design review cycle with your team. Fabrication in our UL 508A shop begins as soon as the drawings are approved.
